People living near and working at primary schools called for deteriorating road markings to be addressed
Concerns have been raised over the state of a zebra crossing used by hundreds of Nottinghamshire schoolchildren. People living near and working at primary schools in Foxhill Road, Carlton called for fading road markings to be addressed.
Children previously were helped by a lollipop lady, but she was not replaced following her retirement almost one year ago. "I wouldn't say the crossing looks OK," said Janice Ruane, who lives nearby. The 72-year-old, whose grandchildren used to attend one of the primary schools, said: "There should be a lollipop lady there to be honest.
When asked whether she had any concern over children's safety, she said: "Of course, I think anyone with morals would. I think the council should address it." "I think it's also people who are just ignorant. probably would help, there are hundreds of kids that use it.Another woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I think the markings need redoing, but I guess there's bright yellow lights. I've not noticed before but it's definitely something that needs looking at if it's causing issues."
