EXCL: 'I saved 200 lives' - Brixton gig man tells of crush horror by LeahMahon_ asakeconcert Brixton
A CONCERT goer at the Asake concert may have saved “at least 200 people” after a suspected crowd crush in Brixton erupted leaving three people in critical condition.
“Five minutes went past and the promoter or someone to do with the show said ‘Listen, this is not a joke, police have basically shut the show off.” As thousands of people ran for their lives, Mr Ogunkoya said he and his friends started “coming back” into the venue. Mr Ogunkoya went on to slam the event’s organisation as “not professional and not safe” as thousands of people attempted to gain entry into the venue.
Mr Ogunkoya says that he was searched before entering the venue, but alleges that other people were being allowed to just walk through, because “there weren’t enough stewards or security to actually stop people”.
