In a bizarre incident, a thief attempted to rob a bank by posing as one of the presenters of Bargain Hunt, demanding £3,000 from the cashier before being foiled
A conman posed as a celebrity auctioneer in his attempt to rob a bank, but was foiled by sharp-witted staff.
When the man asked for £3,000, the cashier became suspicious and asked him to fill in a withdrawal form, before alerting her manager. The conman then made his excuses and left the branch. Police were later able to use fingerprints to identify the culprit. Police were called to a domestic incident in June at the £1.5million family home in Derbyshire that Charles had shared with his wife Rebecca Ludlam and their two children since 2014.
He has since pleaded not guilty on all charges after appearing in court early this year. He was released on bail on the condition that he does not return to the family or contact his wife.
