A week or so after a previously undisclosed injury pushed him out of the UFC 303 main event against Michael Chandler, the MMA star took to social media to reveal the injury, fire back at UFC Hall-of-Famer Chael Sonnen for his criticism, and explain why he believes it is still in Chandler’s best interest to wait for him to fight.
Believe it or not, that’s the last time McGregor won a fight, having followed that win up with two TKO losses to Dustin Poirier., who criticized McGregor and questioned the legitimacy of his injury. McGregor posted images of his broken toe during a sparring session in preparation for UFC 303.McGregor also spoke on criticism from others in the MMA community centered around the concept that Chandler has gotten the short end of the stick by waiting for the MMA icon to return to the Octagon.
Love him or hate him, McGregor is speaking the truth. Chandler knows this is true, so he’s likely to wait for McGregor to be healthy. Adding McGregor to the card will take things to another level. As frustrating as it may be for MMA fans, having McGregor return to the Sphere might be best for business and the sport.
