Conor McGregor's spokesperson says the UFC star put up the social media posts, in which he attacked the media, the court itself and his accuser Nikita Hand, out of frustration - but insisted that he 'respects the role of the jury'
Conor McGregor’s social media posts about a ‘kangaroo court’ were made out of “frustration and disappointment,” his spokesperson claims.
On Tuesday this week, McGregor then put up further posts to his Instagram account in which he said “Who gives a f*ck about the fake press,” and echoed the words of US President Elect Donald Trump with the words “fight, fight fight.” He also reposted a post about the current allegations against rapper Jay Z and wrote: “never settle with blackmailers. EVER.”
“I haven't decided on that, but I can if I want to instigate a proceeding against Mr McGregor for contempt of court which could result in a fine. He is a very rich man who could well afford to pay a fine,” the judge said. “There was a tendency to allow a matter like this to pass unremarked,” the judge said, adding that this led people to think they could say anything. If he did post the text it was highly irresponsible,” the judge said.
"I want to thank the Rape Crisis Centre, especially Cliona, who has been by my side throughout this entire period. I want to thank all the guards and the ambulance crew. I want to thank all the women and men out there who have supported me throughout this trial. For every person who reached out to me a card, a letter, e-mail, everything, it hasn't gone unnoticed. Thank you. I really appreciate it so much,” she continued.
Answering questions from the media, Ms Hand also said what she had gone through was a “nightmare” and confirmed she felt she had finally achieved vindication.
