Pollsters have speculated that Labour will have an easier route to victory thanks to Ms Sturgeon’s resignation, adding to the Conservatives’ political challenges.
They added that the new SNP leader would have to decide whether to continue to sue the UK Government in order to force through unpopular legislation on gender recognition, saying: “They are in a bit of a pickle.
