“It’s going to be an impressive community facility and can only enhance that part of the town and in the end only enhance the spirit of the town itself.”Westholme School was founded in 1923 by Emily Singleton and moved to Billinge House, the site of the new mosque, after outgrowing its first building in Preston New Road. The school later expanded into Beardwood Bank and Wilmar Lodge in Meins Road and in 2020 the lower school building closed with the younger pupils moving to Beardwood Bank.
