A convicted murderer, Jake Farhi, who uses the stage name TEN, is under investigation by the Ministry of Justice for music that allegedly references his 2008 murder of schoolboy Jimmy Mizen. Farhi's lyrics, available on platforms like Spotify and YouTube, appear to allude to the killing, sparking outrage and prompting an investigation.
The Ministry of Justice has launched an investigation into Jake Farhi, a convicted murderer, following reports that he recorded music referencing his 2008 murder of schoolboy Jimmy Mizen. Jimmy, 16, tragically died at the Three Cooks Bakery in Lee, south London, on May 10, 2008, when Farhi threw a large glass dish that shattered, severing an artery in his neck.
According to media reports, Farhi, who is now using the stage name TEN, is a drill rap artist known for his violent lyrics and who obscures his identity with a balaclava in his music videos. Farhi, then 19 years old, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 14 years for the murder. Lyrics from one of TEN's songs, available on platforms like Spotify and YouTube, appear to allude to Jimmy's death. The lyrics state: 'Stuck it on a man and watched him melt like Ben and Jerry's. Sharpen up my blade I've got to keep those necessary. Stay alert and kept it ready, any corner could be deadly. Judge took a look at me, before the trial even started he already knows he's gonna throw the book at me.'In another track, TEN boasts: 'See a man's soul fly from his eyes and his breath gone... I wanted more, it made it less wrong. Seeing blood spilled same floor he was left on.' A spokesperson for HM Prison and Probation Service revealed to the BBC that they are aware of the content and are investigating it as a top priority. They emphasized that they take any material that could glorify violence or cause distress to victims extremely seriously. Margaret Mizen, the mother of the murdered teenager, shared with the BBC that her family only recently learned about the existence of these songs, expressing shock and disbelief. She questioned how someone could be allowed to create and share such disturbing music. Regarding Jake Farhi and his alleged music production, Mrs. Mizen stated, 'I think he's a coward. To be able to play his music with a balaclava on and not show his face says to me he's a bit of a coward. 'I don't want him to turn into some sort of celebrity just because he has been on the news,' she added. Following Jimmy's death, Mr. and Mrs. Mizen established the Jimmy Mizen Foundation, dedicated to charitable work, including aiding young people in London who are escaping violence. Mrs. Mizen affirmed that their charity's core message of forgiveness, peace, and hope 'wouldn't change because of what's going on now'. She highlighted the importance of these messages for children, stating that they don't need to be exposed to the negativity of rap songs with harsh language
