A Fatal Accident Inquiry into the death of Paul Dowds was held at Glasgow Sheriff Court and a sheriff ruled that no reasonable precautions could have been taken to save him.
Paul Dowds took unwell at the Bishopbriggs jail eight months after being remanded to custody to await trial for assault to severe injury and robbery.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his passing heard that a 'code blue' emergency was called when Dowds was found with vomit around his mouth and struggling to breathe, and he was rushed to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medics, he died almost a month later.Sheriff David Taylor published his findings this week after being presented with evidence during a two day hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
"He was given appropriate medical treatment during his time in custody at HM Prison, Low Moss. On the morning of June 19, 2020 Mr Dowds was found lying on his back on the floor of his cell in an unresponsive condition.
