Lopez pleaded no contest to the charges in late 2021 and was sentenced to eight years probation in early January 2022, according to court records. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Sex Offender Registry.Lopez failed to comply with the requirements of his community supervision and failed to follow instructions for a sex offender treatment program, court records show.

Lopez and another man, Xavier Gonzales, filed paperwork with the county in late November to do business as a Statewide Emergency Response Team, listing the group as a nonprofit.
