But, as simple as it seems, cooking the perfect bowl of pasta requires a little bit more than just throwing it in some boiling water. Timing and method can make all the difference as overcooking can make it mushy and rinsing can stop your sauce from sticking.
' According to the Pasta Evangelists, salt must only be added when the water has boiled. They said: 'Salted water helps to flavour the pasta as it absorbs the salt from the water during the cooking process. 'It’s crucial, however, that the salt is added only once the water has reached a boil. Adding salt on a simmer will only cause unnecessary delay to the cooking process given that salted water takes longer to reach boiling point.
