The Coopers Town House pub celebrated its 100th birthday today with special guests. The vibrant venue, situated in the heart of the city on Cases Street, is a beloved Liverpool institution. Since opening its doors in 1925, Coopers has become known for its lively atmosphere and loyal patrons who are always ready to belt out a tune.

While still maintaining its traditional pub charm, Coopers has embraced modern trends by sharing daily TikTok videos of its customers showcasing their karaoke talents. These videos attract millions of views each month, drawing fans from around the globe to watch their live broadcasts. To commemorate this significant milestone, a new plaque honoring the pub's legacy was unveiled next to the original licensee plaque, commissioned by local artist Emma Rodgers. The plaque was revealed by Coopers enthusiast Jonny Bongo, founder of Bongo's Bingo. The pub was packed to capacity for the celebrations, with staff turning customers away at the door. This marks the beginning of several centenary celebrations planned throughout the weekend. Friday and Saturday will feature surprise guest performances starting at 5pm. On Tuesday, January 21st, customers can create their own t-shirts with a unique centenary design. A 'pensioners' party' on Wednesday, January 22nd, complete with a buffet, complimentary drinks, bingo, and raffle prizes, open to all regulars and those wishing to join in the festivities. Jonathan Yates, co-owner of The Book in West Derby, recently took over Coopers, promising to preserve its unique spirit. He stated: 'It's a cliché to say this, but you never truly own a pub like Coopers. You are essentially the latest caretaker of this fantastic place, because the pub existed long before any of us. In the last 18 months, we've updated the front, invested in the cellar, upholstery, air conditioning, and more, but ensured that the people, staff, entertainers, and customers remain unchanged. 'It's the people who make Coopers, they always have, and we can't wait to celebrate with them over four fantastic days in January. From the moment I became the latest custodian, the centenary of Ada Cooper becoming landlady here was firmly in our plans. 'Coopers was first described to me as the little pub with the big heart, and since Ada Cooper's time, that closeness and camaraderie has endured for over 100 years. 'At the same time, Coopers isn't stuck in the past; in recent years, we've developed Coopers' social media presence. The pub evolves to stay relevant, but never deviates from its roots.
