The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. near West Ferdinand Street and Avers Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Department. An officer was taken to Stroger Hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. An adult male was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition from gunshots, Langford said.No details regarding the shooting were immediately available, but police were expected to hold an evening news conference at the scene.
