POLICE and KOJC members are locked in a standoff in Davao City on Sunday night, August 25, a day after lawmen attempted to serve a warrant of arrest against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
As of 10:40 p.m., at least 1,000 Kingdom of Jesus Christ members are holding a protest in front of their compound in Buhangin District. Police Regional Office-11 chief Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre II asked the KOJC members to disperse from the Philippines-Japan Friendship Highway. Police have deployed a long-range acoustic device to disperse protesters.
An LRAD crowd control device is a specialized loudspeaker that produces sound at high power for communicating at a distance.Police denied that Davao City is under lockdown.The protest was conducted more than a day after 2,000 police officers went to the KOJC compound to serve warrants of arrest against Quiboloy and colleagues for child abuse and human trafficking.
