Nine fire engines are at the scene from as far as Lincolnshire and residents are asked to close their windows over the huge plume of smoke
A huge fire broke out at a building on Earlstrees Industrial Estate, in Corby. There are a number of road closures in the area and a large plume of smoke is visible.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 4.15am this morning, Tuesday, April 25, to reports of a fire on the industrial estate in west Corby. First responders found two industrial units well alight and reinforcements were called in. Fire crews from Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Services were also at the scene. NFRS said crews were "working hard to contain the fire and protect the surrounding premises". There were a number of road closures in the area to enable firefighters access to the scene.A large smoke plume affected the industrial estate and wider communities in Corby and residents and businesses were advised to keep windows and doors closed.
NFRS said firefighters would remain at the scene until further notice. There are no casualties reported. "We are asking people to avoid the area if at all possible and thank local residents and business for their patience and support whilst we deal with this incident," the service added.
