Corey LaJoie has finally unveiled his plans for 2025, marking a significant shift in his NASCAR career. LaJoie will be joining a roster of open entries vying for a spot in the 67th annual Daytona 500 next month, competing in a partial season schedule with Rick Ware Racing (RWR). This will be his ninth attempt at the iconic race, having participated in eight consecutive Daytona 500 s, including a fourth-place finish last year.
Notably, this marks the first time since 2018 that LaJoie won't be running full-time in the Cup Series.The 33-year-old driver will pilot the No. 01 Ford Mustang for RWR, a number not seen in the Cup Series for nearly 17 years. DuraMAX and Take 5 Oil Change will serve as sponsors for this endeavor. Adding another dimension to his 2025 plans, LaJoie will also join the broadcast team for Amazon Prime Video's five NASCAR Cup races, contributing as a studio analyst during pre and post-race coverage. LaJoie already hosts his own podcast, Stacking Pennies, a testament to his belief in turning small victories into significant triumphs, a theme that has resonated throughout his career. The No. 01, therefore, carries a symbolic meaning, representing this very mantra.LaJoie's NASCAR journey began with various lower-tier rides, leading him to start a total of 272 Cup races since 2014. He was given an opportunity to step in for Chase Elliott in the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet at Gateway in 2023, but the anticipated breakthrough didn't materialize as planned. Carson Hocevar, who was driving LaJoie's usual ride in his Cup debut, captured the spotlight. LaJoie spent last season with Spire Motorsports but connected with RWR mid-season after swapping seats with Justin Haley. It was a challenging year for LaJoie, as he lagged behind his two teammates in the points standings and experienced two spectacular crashes during the season.
