The soap veteran, portrayed by Helen Worth, 73, was seen hospitalised following a heart attack in dramatic scenes, thought to be her exit storyline.
This intense plot twist arrives on the heels of Helen's exit from the soap, who has played Platt family matriarch Gail for 50 years. It was announced in June that she would be leaving the soap this year following a “major storyline for the Platt family”. Dr Sonya Babu-Narayan, associate medical director at the BHF and consultant cardiologist, said: “A heart attack can happen on any street, even Coronation Street.
