Things didn’t go to plan Ken Barlow was furious to see Cassie Plummer disrespect his late wife Deirdre’s memory in Coronation Street. The soap legend, who has been a firm fixture on the cobbles ever since the first episode 64 years ago, has had a rough time of late since suffering a fall. As much as he hated to admit defeat, he eventually agreed with his family, and following advice from medical professionals that he would need a carer to help him out around the house for the foreseeable.
The glasses were an iconic part of the character’s appearance The famous glasses are on display at the Coronation Street Experience Cassie was quick to pop them on and make a sarcastic comment about them being straight out of the 80s, something which horrified Ken. Believing her to be disrespectful of his late wife’s memory, and furious that she wasn’t a real carer, he ordered her to leave and sacked her.
