Carys tries on a new pair of shoes that fit like a glove, but the assistant reveals they're not in the half-price sale and that none of the remaining pairs in the sale fit Carys. As the assistant heads off, Gemma, angry at their situation, walks out with the new shoes without paying.
Gemma got desperate Gemma Winter had the day from hell in Monday’s episode of Coronation Street. As soon as morning broke, she was stressing over being unable to afford some new shoes for Carys, her young daughter. While Carys was at nursery, things got even worse for Gemma when she received a £70 parking fine. When Bernie discovered the letter she was shocked, with an upset Gemma pointing out that she only has £20 to last her till the end of the week.

When the shop worker walked away, Gemma reflected on her situation and hated how unfair the world was treating her. Not wanting her daughter to suffer, she kept the shiny shoes on Carys’ feet and legged it out of the store.
