It seems that it could be all change again for the iconic boozer in the ITV soap

Coronation Street has seemingly shared a big update on the Rovers Return as Daisy Midgeley's farewell to Weatherfield nears. It seems that it could be all change again for the iconic boozer, which has been the second home to many of the street's most famous residents for the past 65 years but it has faced troubles in recent years.

As fans of the ITV soap know, at the end of 2023 and into early 2024, the Rovers and its staff faced a tumultuous time. The pub experienced a period of closure after landlady Jenny was forced to sell up. A result of crippling costs amid the Cost of Living crisis, Jenny sold the beloved pub to Newton and Ridley and all seemed well as she was able to continue running the pub with the help of her staff. However, the jubilation didn't last long as they discovered Newton and Ridley were being sold to another company, Waterford Incorporated and as a result, they all lost their jobs. With the pub undergoing refurbishment, it was left empty of customers for a while before Daisy Midgeley came up with a cunning plan. Following serial killer Stephen Reid's shock death, after some digging, Daisy found Stephen's journal which was dumped by his mother Audrey Roberts. After studying his notes and scribbles, Daisy figures out the password for the account holding the significant amount of money he had stolen from Carla Connor's factory, Underworld. A panicked Jenny didn't know what to do but Daisy managed to convince her that they should use the hidden lump sum to buy the pub back, but she promised Jenny they'd pay Carla back every penny. It was then earlier this month that Carla decided action finally needed to be taken and that the Rovers Return needs to be sold for her to recoup her missing cash, which she now needs to give to stepdaughter Betsy Swain after her inheritence from her mum, Becky's, death was used to pay for her kidney transplant. Carla broke the news to Jenny that she needs to pay Lisa Swain back and that she's decided to sell the pub, leaving Jenny shocked. She eventually shared Carla's demand with Daisy, who has since found out that Jenny plans to buy the pub back for herself with the money Daisy's dad invested for her years ago, which has now come to fruition. But, Daisy is now in cahoots with her mother to get her hands on the cash. They are catfishing Jenny with the help of 'Dom'. However, Daisy is unaware that Christina plans to split the £60,000 with 'Dom', but has found out her mum is seeing Jenny's dodgy new fake suitor. Now, a new clip has revealed Jenny will receive some news about the Rovers before and emotional reaction towards Daisy as she prepares to leave the cobbles behind. It's no secret that Daisy will be saying goodbye to Weatherfield at the start of May having decided to leave 'the car crash that is my life behind.' In the scene to air in the ITV soap next week, an emotional Jenny reveals that her investors have pulled out, and that a buyer has been found for the Rovers Return. Daisy’s surprised when Jenny starts sobbing and begs her to stay in Weatherfield. 'It's you going that's breaking my heart,' Jenny tells Daisy as she pulls her in for a hug. Jenny adds: 'I know it's daft but I feel like I'm being abandoned. Don't leave, Daisy. I'm begging you, please stay with me!' Daisy appears unsure how to react, but it doesn't seem it'll be enough to change her mind. As well as Jenny, heartfelt conversation with Daniel Osbourne will play a crucial role in Daisy's final moments on the street leaving viewers hoping that Daniel's plea can sway Daisy's decision. Speaking of Daisy's decision to leave the street, actress Charlotte Jordan said: 'I think it’s very bittersweet for Daisy. Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it’s also been the source of so much trauma for her. 'I think we’ve watched her slowly try to pick up the pieces since her stalking storyline, but she’s ultimately realised she doesn’t need to stay in a place that’s caused her so much heartbreak. And it’s just as well she’s running far away to the other side of the planet, as she’s left a mountain of destruction and angry people in her wake!' On how she feels about saying goodbye, the soap star shared: 'As for me, I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with. 'Kate has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice. And I can’t tell you how much fun the other cast members and I had playing out this last hurrah.'
