Alex Bain has starred as Simon Barlow in Coronation Street since the tender age of seven and, while his on-screen character has faced his fair share of challenges, so has the actor
Born in Lancashire, Alex initially appeared in a Rice Krispies advertisement before transitioning to television. One of his significant early career moments was starring alongside Steve Coogan in the BBC drama Sunshine, which aired for one season in 2008.
Away from the screen, Alex faced his own life-altering experience when he became a father in 2018 at the age of 17. His daughter, Lydia-Rose, was born shortly after he and his then-girlfriend, Levi Selby, sat their GCSE exams. "My family has always said that I was exactly like she is when I was her age. Before Covid, she was going to dance classes as well, so she's really following in her dad's footsteps. She's always dancing and singing – it's great!"
The news of the reported split came just a few months after Alex gushed about his fiancée in an exclusive interview with OK!, with the pair sharing all of the details of Alex's proposal and their plans they had for their wedding day. Alex has also been forced to defend himself on social media when his parenting skills came under fire.
