Coronation Street actress Julia Goulding has extended a warm welcome to her new co-star, Farrel Hegarty , revealing a personal connection between them. Goulding was spotted cheering Hegarty on as she made her debut on the ITV soap opera. Hegarty's first appearance as Lou Michaelis aired on Wednesday, February 12th, following an earlier announcement of her arrival.
It was revealed that Lou and her husband, Mick, played by Joe Layton, would be Weatherfield's new 'nightmare neighbours', a mantle previously held by the infamous Battersby family in 1997. Lou made a memorable entrance, giving Aadi Alahan a hard time over a shop purchase and quickly forming a bond with Gemma Winter-Brown. Their connection was soon revealed as they recognized each other from Bessie Street School, where Gemma's quadruplets and Lou's two daughters attend. The pair ended up enjoying a drink together at the Rovers Return.Taking to Instagram, Goulding shared that she visited Hegarty's house to watch her first scenes with their mutual friends. In a picture with the group, Goulding, who portrays Shona Platt on the show, captioned it, 'The debut of Loui!' She followed up with a picture of herself and Hegarty credited together in the end credits, writing, 'Welcome to the cobbles @farrelhegarty.' This follows Goulding's earlier support for Hegarty's casting announcement at the end of last month and a belated birthday message for her friend. Sharing a picture of Hegarty, Goulding said, 'This absolute dreamboat not only had her birthday this week (hbd) but it has finally been announced she's joining the cobbles as 'Lou'.' She added, 'I hear she's quite the mischief maker! Super proud. Love you Faz!
