Coronation Street's Betsy Swain could be bidding farewell to the cobbles according to the latest soap spoilers
Nex week on Coronation Street, Betsy Swain has some major news to share with her family - but it could lead to her cobbles exit.
Betsy made her cobbles debut back in 2024 as the daughter of copper DS Lisa Swain . And since then, it hasn’t taken her long to find herself involved in several big moments. From the tragic death of boyfriend Mason Radcliffe - who was brutally murdered - to the shock return of her ‘dead’ mother Becky , Betsy’s time on the soap has not been short of drama.
And spoilers for next week have revealed that she's planning an exit from Weatherfield when she finds out she’s been offered a place at the London College of Fashion. At first, Betsy is cautious to break the news to her mum, but eventually tells Lisa and Carla Connor about the offer. Carla’s delighted for her, but will Lisa share her enthusiasm?
Although her exit is yet to be confirmed, fans reckon Betsy will be taking a break, to coincide with actress Sydney Martin appearing in a short film, which was announced earlier this year.
“So it seems Sydney Martin might have a short break from #Corrie as she makes a film with Hollyoaks star Isabelle Smith. Hence Betsy's fashion course at a London college,” said one person on X. Another added: “I thought that. ” It was announced in February that Sydney had landed a new part in a short film called Favourite, alongside Hollyoaks star Isabelle Smith, who plays Frankie Osborne on the Channel 4 soap.
The filmmaker Georgia Leigh-Taylor shared the news via Instagram, with Sydney later saying she couldn't "wait" to get started. Georgia wrote: "I'm so thrilled to announce the incredible Sydney Martin and the brilliant Isabelle Smith will be playing Mel and Ashley in my upcoming short film called Favourite.
"After graduating from the same acting school, Sydney and Izzy have both been working professionally in television since 2024, building exciting careers for themselves, taking on powerful storylines, and earning well-deserved recognition. "Favourite is a dual-timeline drama exploring the lives of best friends Mel and Ashley both as teenagers, and as adults," continued the filmmaker. Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
