Flanagan appeared before Wirral Magistrates' Court after being convicted of two counts of failing to provide driver information when required. The 34-year-old actress neglected to respond to notices of intended prosecution regarding her Audi Q7, which was caught speeding in Liverpool and Sefton last year.
Flanagan's defense claimed she believed her boyfriend, Robbie Talbot, had responded to the notices. During the hearing, the prosecution detailed two instances of speeding. The Audi was clocked at 42mph in a 30mph zone on Scotland Road on June 6, 2022, and at 51mph in a 40mph zone near junction six of the M57 on June 25, 2022. Flanagan argued that she faced financial difficulties and relied on her car to transport her three young children to nursery. She also mentioned attending therapy sessions in Birmingham for post-natal depression, which she drives to every few months.Flanagan's legal advisor disclosed that she had six previous speeding offenses, resulting in penalty points. Magistrate David Holley imposed a fine of £1,000 for each offense, totaling £2,000. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £800, prosecution costs of £110, and faces a six-month driving ban. Mr. Holley stated that while they considered her arguments regarding her children and mental health, the severity of the offenses and her previous record necessitated a disqualification.
