Coronation Street fans are prepping their farewells as one of the show's beloved characters is set to depart after 14 years. On Monday 6 January, actor Colson Smith , known for his role as Craig Tinker , took to social media to announce his exit from the iconic cobbles in 2025. Posting a snap of himself suited up as Craig, the 26-year-old actor, who started his Weatherfield journey in 2011, expressed: 'Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker s time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025.
' He continued: 'I've LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation street. 'I've learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I'm excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy. For Me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES', reports Lancs Live . His announcement swiftly captured the hearts of his co-stars and 207K followers alike. Lucy Fallon, known as Bethany Platt, commented: 'Now that i've stopped crying about it, i can't WAIT to see you slay the day. x' Other Weatherfield regulars chimed in with affectionate messages. Tina O'Brien, portraying Sarah Platt, responded: 'Love you Cols' accompanied by heart emojis. Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Connor, shared: 'Grandma loves ya and can't wait to watch you fly! x', Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, said: 'We love you' and Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, echoed the sentiment with: 'We love you Cols.' In a year of departures, Sue Cleaver is also set to leave her role as Eileen Grimshaw after 25 years, and fans recently said goodbye to Helen Worth's Gail Platt after an impressive 50-year run.
