Coronation Street has confirmed that a major character, who has been a part of the ITV soap for 21 years, is set to leave.
This follows recent reports and comments from cast members about the sad departure news, before the actor himself finally broke his silence. The Barlow family are set to lose another member next week, as spoilers reveal Simon Barlow is leaving the street to join his dad Peter Barlow on his boat. New spoilers have unveiled heart-breaking scenes next week showing the moment Simon leaves and waves goodbye to his loved ones. They gather to send him off, with stepmother Leanne Battersby in tears.
Alex Bain, who has portrayed his character for the last 16 years from childhood, recently responded to his imminent departure. Although initial reports hinted that he voluntarily left the show, later claims suggested that the showrunners decided to write him out.
