Channel 4's Liz Bates asks why Public Health England has not released test results relating to millions of PPE products that were sent to frontline workers, which the broadcaster reported were out of date. PHE say they were tested and found to be safe, she says.
Prof Powis says any items that have gone past their original expiry date are re-tested to ensure that they are still at high standards and insists they would not be distributed unless they have been re-tested to meet those standards.The environment secretary says it is"inevitable that there will in some regions perhaps not be sufficient numbers [of tests] on some days".
He adds that it is"possible they may not be able to get tests but they should be able to get one quickly because we do now have the capacity".
