Following the death of retired academic Dorothy Nias, aged 90, due to a fatal car crash, a coroner has called for formal fitness checks for elderly drivers. The incident occurred after Nias mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake, leading to a collision with a lamppost.
A coroner has urged for elderly motorists to undergo formal fitness checks for driving after a retired academic, Dorothy Nias , died due to injuries from a car crash where she mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake. Nias, 90, was on a dual carriageway when she lost control of her Honda Jazz, colliding with a lamppost. The incident occurred due to a series of minor driving incidents leading up to the crash, for which her relatives had urged her to stop driving.
