Corrie fans in tears as Oliver says 'Mummy'
CORONATION Street fans rejoiced today when Oliver said "mummy" - but they fear Leanne is in denial over the extent of his brain damage.
The toddler was being tested in hospital for deadly mitochondrial disease after suffering a number of seizures, and he has also not been developing at the same rate as his peers. He has been sedated while the medics run tests, and when he first woke up he was still too drowsy to respond to his mum or dad, Steve.
A doctor told the worried parents that Oliver could have trouble recognising faces or familiar objects as he struggles to process "visual information", warning the pair that he may have suffered severe brain damage. However, Leanne refused to accept the news and remained optimistic - being left overjoyed when he later woke up and called out to her.Leanne and Steve have been told that Oliver could have severe brain damageAnother added: "THAT WAS SO PRECIOUS, OH MY GOD".
A third revealed that they were in tears at the emotional moment, writing: "Awww, mummy - I'm crying!"
