And her soap legend status meant it didn't take fans long to flock to the post to share compliments and birthday wishes while some had a demand.
Barbara has played Rita in Corrie for more than 50 years after an initial one-off appearance as the exotic dancer, Rita Littlewood, in 1964. Well known as the owner of ‘The Kabin’, which Rita took over in 1973, her many sidekicks include other Corrie legends Mavis Riley and Norris Cole. It comes weeks after fans were thrilled to see Barbara Knox and Thelma Barlow brought back together during an appearance at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park. It came as Barbara was in attendance at the first day of the flower show for an official presentation by officials from Blue Diamond Garden Centres of the new rose Gracious Lady, which has been grown and named in honour of Barbara ahead of her 90th birthday.
