He's been a regular on the Street for more than 20 years - but eagle-eyed viewers have noticed a big change in his appearance and think it happened 'overnight'
Viewers of the latest episode of Coronation Street were left baffled after spotting a major difference in one beloved character's usual appearance. Mechanic Tyrone Dobb, played by actor Alan Halsall, has been a regular in the soap ever since he was introduced back in 1998 and was back on screen on Friday, March 22 sporting a new look.
Scores of fans took to social media to share their thoughts, with one writing on X : "When did Tyrone grow that beard? Overnight?," whilst another agreed: "Has Tyrone grew that beard overnight or is he dying it? Or am I losing it?" Fan-favourite Alan returned to set in January after taking three months off to recover from reconstructive surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last November. At the time, he shared a snap from his bed at home and wrote: "ACL Reconstruction surgery. Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery.
Alan later gave fans insights into his recovery via social media. In one video, he recorded himself taking part in a weight exercise designed to build strength in his left leg, whilst in another clip he simply said his recovery was "on track".
