And 17 months on, in heart-wrenching scenes in Monday night's Corrie , Paul died after his health took a sudden turn for the worse and he was left struggling to breathe. In reality, Paul had already tragically passed. Summer Spellman, Bernie Winter and Gemma Winter-Brown are now keeping the secret as they prepare to say goodbye to Paul.
But in another surprise, Peter was sent messages from a few other familiar faces including on-screen mum Jane. Standing on the famous cobbles outside the Rovers Return, the actress said: "Peter, I've been asked to say a few words about you, so what am I going to say, darling?"
