Coronation Street legend Julie Goodyear has been seen for the first time since her dementia diagnosis was confirmed by her husband. There was an outpouring of support in June this year when it was revealed that the actress had been 'suffering forgetfulness for some time' and that her condition will now get 'progressively worse'.
Scott, 55, said: "Julie is living with Alzheimer’s, not suffering with it. That’s a big difference. Memory is one of the things most affected by this cruel disease, but Julie and I are also trying to make more memories together." He added: "Taking part in this walk was a wonderful new memory for us to share."
Julie's time on the cobbles was notable for her verbal sparring with characters such as Rita Sullivan and Mavis Wilton, her no-nonsense approach to running the Rovers Return, and her short-lived marriage to Alec Gilroy in the 1980s.
