As Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne prepares to wave goodbye to the cobbles for pastures new, we take a look at his life away from his iconic role as Peter Barlow
After delighting audiences on our screens for over 23 years as Coronation Street’s Peter Barlow, actor Chris Gascoyne broke the hearts of fans everywhere last month when he revealed he was leaving the show to pursue other projects.
Thankfully however, while Peter is no stranger to nail-biting scenes on screen, Chris’s real life away from the soap is far less dramatic!Born on 31 January 1968, Chris started his life in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, when he was born to working class parents. He studied here between 1989 and 1992, with Susan Lynch, Julian Rhind-tutt and Danny Sapani among some of his notable classmates.
The role that propelled him to true stardom however came in 2000, when Chris became the seventh actor to take on the role of Peter Barlow in Coronation Street.
