More than a third of people in Scotland now can’t afford to go on holiday
As inflation hits 8.7 per cent and interest rates rise for the 13th time in a row, a YouGov poll on behalf of Citizens Advice Scotland found holidays are the first thing to be scrapped as people tackle money problems.
He said: “The fact that more than a third of our fellow citizens can’t afford to get away for a break is really sobering, particularly at this time of year. “That has a crushing impact on people’s morale. We often hear it in the CAB from people who come to us with money problems: parents talk of the guilt they feel about not being able to give their children that special holiday they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
