Discussions are ongoing on the future of the former St Andrew’s Church site in the heart of Alexandria, with a councillor saying it cannot be left vacant - especially as demolition works finally get underway on Mitchell Way.

And at a meeting of West Dunbartonshire Council’s corporate services committee last week, members heard that demolition had cost the local authority £155,000. “If he can’t pay will we then take possession of the land for payment - and will it be brought into community use?” Councillor McGinty continued: “I take it that means that a resolution will be brought back to members?
