A 70-year-old Nottingham council flat tenant says she does not want to pay her rent until a long-running issue with water leaks in her property is resolved. Marie Kelly says issues in a privately-owned flat at the top of her block means water regularly runs down into her Nottingham City Homes flat.
Marie Kelly, who has lived in her flat for around 16 years, said: "I've been having to move things in my kitchen to the other side of the room because water is just constantly dripping in and getting on the electrics. I'm 70 years old and I still go to work at four in the morning, so it's awful to have this to deal with.
Janette Hill, who has lived in her flat for around 18 years, says that although they want to be moved to another council property, the neighbours have been told the only way they will be moved is if someone exchanges. She said: "I don't see why anybody would want to exchange given all the issues we have got here with these leaks.
