Taxi customers have 'outstanding concerns' following complaints about cabs licensed outside the borough
Calls have been made to end ‘out of town’ licences for taxis as a council admitted it has no enforcement powers deal with many of the cabs on its roads. A meeting of Bolton Council heard about complaints from residents unresolved ‘concerns’ about taxis that are operating in Bolton and the wider Greater Manchester area that hold a licence from another authority like Wolverhampton.
The 'Wolverhampton Problem' that is still concerning Greater Manchester taxi drivers He said: “I’m currently chasing up complaints from residents who have outstanding concerns, it seems to be a loophole for some to go to what would appear are a less strict local authority to be able to operate here in Bolton, in some ways making our licensing department potentially redundant on this matter.
