West Northamptonshire Council has secured funding to introduce 51 electric buses into its network to address air pollution exceeding national limits near North Gate Bus Station. The council will also establish a new Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in the Bradshaw Street area.

West Northamptonshire Council said monitoring in the Bradshaw Street area of Northampton showed a need for a new Air Quality Management Area close to North Gate Bus Station. Matt Golby, Conservative deputy leader of the council, said: "We're committed to improving air quality across the area and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our residents."
