No mean feat in a game that includes the Lancashire opening pack and Stanley, plus Roland-Jones and Higgins in his own team's ranks. Resuming on 32-6, you wouldn't have given much hope to the visitors batting at lunch time, but that's where we are.
Tom Abell is 71 not out, and Jake Ball has defended and left his way to 0 off 21 deliveries to help give Somerset a 282-run lead. Timm van der Gugten has claimed all three wickets to fall this morning, but Abell's resistance looks to have tipped the scales in favour of the visitors. Harmer, who made 80 on day two, is getting significant turn on occasions which does not bode well for the visitors. But we shall see in 35 minutes what Hants have in the way of defiance.
The hosts can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but the path is currently being blocked by Somerset's Tom Abell, who reaches 61 not out. An excellent morning for Sussex securing a fourth batting bonus point and then taking three Leicestershire wickets before lunch. Batting isn't easy with lights on and heavy cloud cover but take nothing away from the Sussex seamers who've bowled beautifully with the new ball.
There's still a long way to go, but Sussex are well on top and provided the weather holds on course for a third win of the seasonMitchell Stanley's first over has disappeared for 13, with Ben Geddes pulling him for six and Max Holden driving to the cover fence to bring up his team's 50. A good first session for the hosts who are right in control of this contest at the first break in play.
John Simpson's barnstorming second century of the season saw Sussex climb to 430, a lead of 102 after the exchange of first innings. And now three wickets has left the Leics response faltering fairly badly and still trailing by 64 runs. Shortly after getting Dan Lawrence, Tongue bowls Adam Thomas.
We just mentioned a potential momentum shift after Lawrence's wicket, and now with another wicket just before lunch, Notts will be delighted with how the final 30 minutes of the morning session went. The Bears skipper caught at long leg as he attempted to pull Logan van Beek away.
It looks like he tried to pull out of the shot at the last minute and didn't really go through with it properly but by then it was too late and his disappointment is clear.
