Tom Banton hit his third first-class century as Somerset posted 317 all out on the opening day of the County Championship Division One match against leaders Surrey at Taunton.
Banton hit a brilliant 132, one short of his career best, with 16 fours and a six, while Tom Abell contributed 49, Archie Vaughan 44 and James Rew 38. Shortly after bringing up the hundred partnership, Rew played forward defensively to Curran and edged behind.
