Now, Duolingo has just added “certified lover finder” in their resumé, and it’s thanks to a successful couple that found love in the app.
So, the story begins with Amanda, a woman from the Philippines who was using Duolingo to learn Italian, German, French, and Mandarin. Whilst learning Mandarin, she saw that a fellow learner kept pressing the “send congratulations” button for her streak on Duolingo. That fellow learner was Rob. She checked out his profile on Facebook, hit him up with a “thank you” message and after he had replied to her text, the rest was history.
They both fostered their growing relationship, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’ve come quite a way, from calls to video chats to care packages sent halfway across the world to virtual family introductions. And where our relationship is now will only continue to expand”, said Rob as quoted by Duolingo in one of their blogs.
Amanda and Rob got married in January this year, and even put “Duolingo-inspired multilingual greetings” for their wedding guests and for those looking for some lovey-dovey inspiration.how it started 🦉 how it's going 💒

Quimbo says entry of foreign capital due to Charter change won't put PH at risk“How can we ensure that our national security is protected and the security of our workers are intact? Of course, they (foreign firms) will have to respect and recognize Philippine laws and be compliant with [state] regulators. We will treat them just like any other business entity,” Quimbo said.“There is also an existing law which makes sure that foreign firms coming in here are not blacklisted or in the terrorist list. That is under Foreign Investment Act, which will safeguard our national security,” she added.
