An amazing surprise!
A couple from Arnold have been left "shocked" after discovering they would be expecting triplets. Christina Barlett, 39, and her husband, Nick, found out during a scan that Christina was pregnant with three girls.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, there were only 102 sets of triplets born in the UK in 2021, out of 618,848 maternities, making the sets of triplets born that year one in every 6067 pregnancies. However, multiple pregnancies such as triplets and twins are more likely when couples go through fertility treatments, such as IVF.Speaking about when they found out, Christina Barlett, who is a dental hygienist, said: "We were obviously very shocked.
"I think it can be more common with age, as your body begins to release more eggs. We are excited, just not really sure what is going to happen. It's going to be hard work but worth it." "You just see it as a blessing. To be fair I did say if I was going to be a dad I always wanted daughters and now I've got four of them, but it is a big shock. "
