Police have appealed for information after the incident on Sunday evening
A couple who allegedly fled a Thai restaurant without paying their £76 bill have been branded 'scruffs' as the owners appealed for more information.
The pair were dining at Lemongrass on Smithdown Road, Wavertree in Liverpool on Sunday evening before leaving at around 8.45pm. The restaurant shared CCTV footage to its Facebook page of the man and woman as they appeared to run off without footing their bill, reports the Liverpool ECHO. Merseyside Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing after the alleged theft was reported to the force. The restaurant wrote on its Facebook that the pair "had dinner [and] ran away without paying food bills worth £76". They posted pictures of a man and a woman entering the restaurant and being shown to a table.Video footage later shows two people smoking outside the restaurant, before making off without paying the bill.
Another person branded the alleged thieves "absolute scruffs", while another floated the idea that customers "should have your picture taken on entry to establishments to get a clearer picture", adding it "can be deleted once paid". A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we received a report of a theft from a restaurant on Smithdown Road on Sunday 10 September.
