KOTA KINABALU: The drastic change in daily Covid-19 cases in certain districts in Sabah on Sunday is the result of a higher number of samples and test results registered, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun .

The Sabah Covid-19 spokesman said this in reference to Penampang recording 80 new infections compared to 24 the day before, while Kota Kinabalu saw a drop to 63 Covid-19 cases from 137 previously. "This happens when a longer period of time is needed to complete the test screenings, some days there would suddenly be a huge number of samples to process.

"Because of that, some results might not be registered on the same day, and thus are carried forward to following days," he said, showing that it was not reflective of a case spike or sudden decrease in infections. The rest of the districts in this state recorded below 30 cases, with Putatan district registering 22 cases and Sandakan reporting 19 cases.Article type: free
