The booster shots will be offered beginning the week of September 20
Coronavirus booster shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available to all American adults beginning next month, the nation’s leading health officials have announced.
‘We know that even highly effective vaccines become less effective over time,’ Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy said during a White House briefing on Wednesday. ‘It is now our clinical judgment that the time to lay out a plan for Covid boosters is now.’ The plan to start administering boosters is subject to the US Food and Drug Administration ‘conducting an independent evaluation and determination of the safety and effectiveness’ of a third Pfizer or Moderna dose, the US Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement earlier on Wednesday.
