Primary Event Solutions was awarded £401,928 by the Culture Recovery Fund
The Arts Council has revealed it will be 'conducting additional checks' into an application made for Covid support funding by a company owned by Sacha Lord .
The application was a success and an award totalling £401,928 was offered to the company on March 29, 2021, according to the Arts Council, and paid in a series of installments. Mr Herrmann then urged readers to send him 'tips, documents or leads' about the affairs of Primary Event Solutions in what he called a 'community fact check', claiming that lawyers acting for Mr Lord had demanded an apology and given him until 4pm on Tuesday to take the story down.
A GMCA spokesperson said: “We welcome the Arts Council England’s decision to undertake additional checks and will co-operate with this work. We have also begun our own factfinding exercise based on new information.” The money - £401,928 was awarded in Round 2' of the Culture Recovery Fund. It's understood that the Arts Council's position last week was that supply chain organisations were eligible within the criteria of the fund and that, in order to meet the criteria, organisations not producing cultural work directly were asked to consider how their organisation enabled and supported the production of culturally significant work.
They said Culture Recovery Fund grants could only be used for the purpose set out in applications and payments were made in installments linked to evidence of activity. And they claimed awards were monitored to ensure that the grants were used for the purposes intended, with 'robust processes in place' to assess applications and the organisations submitting them, to detect and prevent fraudulent cases.
