The news came as lawyers for the families submitted their own verdict on Module 1, which took evidence from David Cameron, George Osborne, Jeremy Hunt, Matt Hancock and current Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden in recent weeks. They say that an NHS funding squeeze left the service with insufficient capacity to cope with the pandemic, from chronic understaffing to cuts to capital spending on diagnostics and public health prevention.
“Core participants” in the inquiry, representing bereaved families but also the British Medical Association, TUC, Royal College of Nursing as well as Government departments, had been given hints that the Module 1 report would be ready within six months.
