Thousands are being urged to come forward
More than 500,000 people across the Midlands are being urged to come forward for a spring dose of the coronavirus vaccine before the seasonal campaign ends this month. The NHS says 712,640 spring vaccinations have been administered across the Midlands so far, more than half of those eligible.
The NHS has been inviting care home residents, people 75 and over and those aged five and over with a weakened immune system to come forward for a jab. But the spring campaign is due to end on June 30, which is also the last chance for those yet to have their first or second covid vaccine dose to come forward.
The NHS will then be moving to a "targeted seasonal offer" for those at increased risk from coronavirus. Around 1.27 million people in the Midlands, including 580,000 in the East Midlands, are eligible for a spring covid jab.The spring campaign began in April and those eligible can book an appointment online or through the NHS app.
"Getting your vaccine couldn't be easier with so many appointments available across the region. I encourage you to book an appointment at your local pharmacy, GP or via the National Booking Service today. "If you are over 75 or you have a weakened immune system, don't miss out, come forward as soon as possible to book a covid vaccine this spring so you can enjoy summer with peace of mind." Across the country, the NHS has delivered over 145 million covid jabs since Margaret Keenan became the first to recieve one outside a clinical trial in December 2020.
