Natalia Edith González, 39, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a newborn from a Paraguayan hospital and attempting to escape to Argentina. CCTV footage captured the moment she fled with the baby in her arms. Authorities received an alert and tracked her to the border, where she was apprehended.

A chilling video captures the moment a ' cradle snatcher ' posing as a nurse flees from a hospital with a stolen newborn baby in her arms. Natalia Edith González, 39, was apprehended for allegedly abducting the infant from a hospital in Paraguay . Authorities believe she was just 50 meters from escaping over the Argentine border with the child. González is suspected of fabricating a pregnancy to her family, including her partner, and targeting a newborn after searching three hospitals.

CCTV footage from the Barrio Obrero Public Hospital in Asunción, Paraguay, shows the woman in a grey uniform pushing through a door into a corridor, carrying a bundle wrapped in her arms. The suspect, an Argentine national, reportedly wore a face mask while impersonating a nurse. The infant's mother, a 19-year-old, had her grandmother share tea with the imposter before the alleged kidnapping. The grandmother, speaking to local media, recounted the events: 'I later asked my daughter where the baby was, and she told me that the nurse had taken her to the paediatric ward. I told her that she wasn't a nurse.' Authorities swiftly triggered a nationwide alert, focusing on border crossings. Juan González, a local police spokesperson, stated, 'We began covering critical points in the city, especially the borders and footbridges, conducting checks.' According to police, González sprinted from the hospital and boarded a bus towards Mercado 4 last Thursday, attempting to evade capture. She purchased clothes for herself and the baby girl at Mercado 4 and then took a taxi to Loma Pytá. Just 50 meters from the Argentine border, Paraguayan police apprehended the suspect. Police officials reported, 'We proceeded to arrest the woman, who resisted at all times.' González's lawyer stated that she claimed to have been at a hospital in Formosa, Argentina, for childbirth. However, evidence suggests she crossed into Paraguay on December 14th or 15th. Examination of her seized phone revealed messages confirming she visited two other hospitals before ultimately carrying out the kidnapping. The lawyer confirmed that authorities have evidence supporting this timeline
